Sedona News – The Sedona Heritage Museum will host local historian Victoria Clark for a Sedona Stories presentation on Thursday, March 14, at 10 am in the Museum’s Historic Apple Packing Shed.  The topic of Clark’s talk will be the 1929 Women’s Transcontinental Air Race.

In an age of aviation breakthroughs, the 1929 Women’s Transcontinental Air Race caught the nation’s attention.  The nine day sprint brought together 19 pilots, including Amelia Earhart, racing from Santa Monica, California, to Cleveland Ohio.  The race included stops in Yuma, Phoenix, and Douglas, Arizona.

While the women were feted at every stop, and 18,000 people turned out to greet them in Cleveland, the triumphant race was not without tragedy, as one of the women perished in a crash in Arizona.  Clark will hit on all the high points and the low points of what humorist Will Rogers termed “the Powder Puff Derby.”

Trust. We must trust our president. He knows what he is doing, and when he is done with Iran there will be peace and stability in the world. His ordering of the attack on Iran and the killing of the Ayatollah was the right thing to do.
