… we are a part of life on earth and somehow or some way we fit into all that is, even though it can be difficult to discern how or why some days … but as long as we have it, we are here and contribute to the symphony that is life. The photo above is of some moon jelly fish at Aquarium of the Bay, Pier 39 in San Francisco where I did a shoot years ago. They are translucent and seemingly adrift in their own universe … and beautiful!

Below is a shot of the splash left by a common merganser a split second after he dove for food at Lake Pleasant. It is beauty in its own right and a reminder of the temporal nature of our own lives … a burst of beauty and then as the ripples move out in concentric circles they fade until the water is smooth and as undisturbed as before … yet there was life and beauty … it was here …

Into a new week and methinks a very good one … lunch with friends at T. Cook’s in Phoenix today and then continuing work on presentations scheduled for this fall … and more jewelry making. Live life each day, keep breathing, smile and be kind … it might be contagious 🙂

    Cheers,

    Ted

If you have spoken something beautiful,
Or touched the dead canvas to life,
Or made the cold stone to speak—
You who know the secret heart of beauty
If you have done one thing
That has made gentler the churlish world,
    Though mankind pass you by,
And feed and clothe you grudgingly—
    Though the world starve you,
And God not answer your nightly prayers,
And you grow old hungering still at heart,
And walk friendless in your way,
And lie down at last forgotten—
If all this befalls you who have created beauty,
You shall still leave a bequest to the world
    Greater than institutions and rules and commerce;
And by the immutable law of human heart
The God of the universe is your debtor,
If you have made gentler the churlish world.

    We Have Been Thoroughly Trained!
    By Amaya Gayle Gregory

Throughout the years, we have been trained. Part of the training is to see others as trained, but not ourselves. Even though we are the others that others are trained to see as trained, we tend to miss that little nuance. The training says we must know what’s right and speak out when we see something that runs contrary to our understanding of rightness. We don’t stop to realize that what we see as right isn’t exactly right or it would be the right version that everyone in their right mind knew as right. There are billions of versions of right but ours is the only real right one. Seems fishy, doesn’t it? We spend our days, our lives, catching others — the wrong ones — doing and saying things in support of their versions of right and our training has us jumping on the critical bandwagon lest we be painted in support of the wrong right. What in this crazy world moves us with such amazing force to crave rightness, to need to be seen as right? Read more→
