By Tommy Acosta —
What is a life anyway? A single “life?” Is it nothing more than a collection of emotions and thoughts, reverberating pain and pleasure, hopes, dreams and fear?
Are we merely meat; flesh and blood creations encapsulating what we believe is a soul?
Or is a single life the microcosm and macrocosm of human life on earth, each one of us a unique representation of who we believe we are and the whole of humanity at once?
We are born. We grow old. We die. Everything we experience is but a dream between those two points.
Or are we manifestations of a Divine Creator, every one of us complete in the image that we were made?
So, we are told.
What are we anyway? Simply put, we are humans. Great and small, short and tall, happy sad, sane or mad. We are the pinpoint of all.
Or maybe that’s only what I believe.
Now we look at the war in Ukraine and the thousands of people being killed there every day, each of these living beings being thrown into a meat grinder where the flesh that sausages out is the payment for the profit made by those who wage it.
Think of a loved one, a son, a daughter, father or grandmother, a cousin a friend or a lover.
Cannon fodder they become so those in their thrones can maintain their unholy grip over humanity, profiting greatly from every death sacrificed to their bloody machine.
Here’s a little poem I wrote for those with ears that hear and eyes that see. Poems say so much with such few words.
“The Bloody Machine.”
Feed me! Feed me
Cries the bloody machine!
Give me your body,
Your mind your whole being.
Your sweat shall sustain me.
Your blood do I crave.
The flesh from your body
Will keep full my graves.
I’ll bend you. I’ll break you.
I’ll grant you no rest.
You’ll never escape me,
Save be it by death.
Yes. I am feeling a bit morose tonight. I could be writing about TikTok, Trump’s arrest tease or AirBnb’s in Sedona. Maybe even about the new Mideast war brewing in Iran.
But every-once-in-a-while the reality of the profit-motivated killing of so many by those who profit from war, death, illness, sorrow and misery hits me right between the eyes and I can feel the tears of humanity welling in my heart.
The fullness of the sorrow that sours in my mouth seeing so clear how this element continues to rule the planet with iron fists and cruel hands, grips my heart tonight.
They are just so smart, so powerful, so entrenched — they got it all figured out.
And with the help of Artificial Intelligence, their latest humanity-control tool, they have their entire plan mapped out for the future.
They are on the brink, the scientist that work for these people, of achieving immortality for them. No Atlas shrugging there.
All of technology is at their disposal and it’s only a matter of time before they crack the key to ever-lasting life.
When they do, they and their spawn will enslave the planet in an unfathomable grip of terror and pain.
Back in the 70s I was watching the news when the devastating realization struck me that these people, this element of humanity, had already won.
I was an anti-war person and until that point I had thought that we could march and protest to change the world and end all wars. Boy, was I wrong.
Over the last century things have only gotten worse. The profit being made by those selling the killing machines in Ukraine dwarf anything we have known so far as far as profits go for those making money from death.
Which brings me back to that “one single life” and what it means.
It’s been reported that close to half a million or more people have been incinerated in the latest war. That’s half a million dreams and hopes, souls, single lives that have perished in a bit more than a year.
But it’s no big deal to those who profit. They just keep rolling in the dough. Laughing in their thrones, because we are so stupid.
The best any of us can do is to de-program from the constant onslaught of violence, crime, war and hate being pumped into our consciousness through our favorite media devices.
Close our eyes and forget the chaos. Focus instead on ourselves and blissfully stumble through life. Count our blessings and at most, pity those being fed to the Bloody Machine.
But try as I might, my pen refuses to cooperate tonight. Sometimes I can’t control it and it spews stuff like the above.
Oh well. At least I feel better after the spewing. Maybe I am not the only one who sees the Bloody Machine. Maybe these words shook the blinders off a single living being somewhere out there reading this.
If so, I am cleansed.

Great job Mr. Acosta! The only thing I would add is the generations of hatred and reprisals that war generates. I’ve spoken to the children of some of our conflicts first hand while deployed to various combat zones in the 90’s. Almost to a child they spoke of avenging the deaths, rapes and mutilation of loved ones at the hands of aggressors. Wars in the Balkans harken back to offenses committed during the Ottoman Empire and Vlad the Impaler (aka Dracula) that’s a long time to hold a grudge huh? There is also hatred that stems from our world wars and the tragedies that befell entire nations and all of mankind for that matter.
Some wars are so called religious wars but at their heart they are really just crimes against humanity for economic or strategic gain and usually result in some form of ethnic cleansing. Many of those engaged in the fighting are lower income individuals duped into doing so while the wealthy and elite live comfortably and lose little to nothing. Those of us who end up doing the fighting almost always grow to regret their participation.
War is never ever good in any way shape or form!
One would think a so called smart person like you Tommy would know that it makes no difference the profit made by the Military Industrial Complex. The only thing that matters is who wins. Only those with money and a lot to lose can organize a war, whether as aggressor or defender. Thank God for the makers of things that kill because it they did not we would all be speaking German today.
I have always found that those who pound the table for war are usually young brainwashed recruits, REMF’s, war criminals or have never seen war first hand.
The war in Ukraine is all about the Benjamin’s being pocketed by the arms suppliers and in turn the Biden family is making a mint by continuing to support Ukraine so that the arms can be sold. There are no good guys in the whole dispute except for the innocent civilians in Ukraine and Russia. The rulers in both countries are greedy bad guys!
Where is the evidence for this political rhetoric? To me it sounds like disinformation that you are spewing.
Buddy I was with you until you went after Biden and Family. Why don’t you also go after all of the other politicians in both parties who have stock in and profit from insider trading deals with the military industrial complex? What do you think Trump was doing with the Saudis? Buying arms from em? No he was selling military weapons, vehicles, aircraft and who knows what else to them and I assure you he made $ off of it otherwise he wouldn’t have done so!
Oh and btw- those weapons Ronnie Raygun got caught selling to the Iranians and Contras were stolen from US military weapons depots in Europe by breaking into our bunkers and then smuggling them out of the storage area under cover of the night.
Fine to point fingers but if you do you should point them at everyone who fits the description regardless of political ideology.
Say what you want and think what you think, but at the end of the day, the Killing Machine Acosta talks about keeps eating. It does not matter what we think. Yes, it is Joe Biden, the touchy feely, money kick back president and Vladimir KGB, Let’s Make Russia Big Again, Putin, that allow this real war to continue. In less than a year over one half million young soldiers dead. The Ukrainian people themselves have abandoned their country and fled across the world because they know the NATO and Russian politicians are devil liars.
All of them, just low life lying scum.
It’s not a good guy versus bad guy situation. It’s more two drug cartels fighting over territory and natural resources. Nobody cares about the Ukrainian people. They left. It’s basically a mercenary army paid for by NATO. And on the other side, Putin already has what he wanted. He is just holding on to his new gains or property lost when the USSR down-sized, depending on how you look at it.
I really do not want to put down Biden, He is simply inept. In any event Joe Biden has proved his military inadequacy and we do not need to test his competency in Ukraine. I feel uncomfortable with a family carrying pillow-cases full of foreign money through the back door of the White House. Don’t get me wrong Joe and Hunter are going to walk right out of this RICO scam. The point is we need a better skilled person to be president. And I don’t necessarily mean the Trumpster.
And so the profit Acosta speaks about makes Las Vegas look like a girl scout cookie sale. We are talking about trillions here. We, the American people, have no power. The rich people are doing what they do well, making money and selling dopey reasons to justify lies. And the American people go for it until the cost of war enters the American Home.
So I am against the War in Ukraine. I blame Biden and Putin. End the War. End it Now. Stop feeding the War Machine. I stand with Acosta on this issue.
Sean Dedalus
I pity Tommy, Sean and JB. They are so mired in their childish beliefs they will forever be chasing their liberal tails.
I am one of those people who invests in the Military Industrial Complex. And I am proud of it. Yes, I make a profit from the sale of things that kill. It pays the bills well. And I sleep well at night because I know the money I spend making money from death is what keeps the flame of Democracy shining in this world. I may not be out there putting my life on the line so I could make a profit. I invest to keep America strong and safe. My money goes to ensuring we are not enslaved by another nation that outspends us on weapons. Powerful people don’t give a damn what it takes to win and everyone knows lethal force is the final arbitrator when it comes to conflict, especially those between nations wanting what another nations have. Wake up already. You are sleeping. We don’t see what we do as simply a way to make profit. We make profits by what protects our country. And that means building and paying for the best killing machines anywhere. We are the true patriots protecting our nation from harm and fighting for freedom all over the world. And even if every other nation made a deal and laid down their weapons we would not comply because we know the truth. The future belongs to those of us willing to make those hard decisions and back it up with as much force needed. We know the evil that lurks inside the hearts of men because we know ourselves. We believe in America and we back that up with our commitment and investment. My kind should be thanked and respected; appreciated for what we do. I hope you hear that JB, Tommy and Dedalus. Stop being so naive.
Think things are far more complex than you can imagine Sean.
However I did see your story(s) on Faux Mewes/Cucker Tarslon/USSS & CIA wannabe Insanity so I understand where it is you are coming from.
I suppose Clinstone caused the war in the Balkans because he was war profiteering from it and the stories of Milosevic and his band of merry men was all fiction? I also suppose that the BUSH’s and DICK Cheney didn’t make trillions off our conflicts ranging from the war between Iraq and Iran to Desert Storm to OEIF through their civilian operated companies Log Cap, Brown and Root etc.?
They all do it. It’s kinda like a global equivalent to Nicholas Cage’s -Lord of War meets Dogs of War.
Do us all a favor, turn off Fox News, Breitbart, Red State, Alex Jones, Newsmax, or any other of your brain drain channels you watch or listen to….Please, it just rots the brain, creates hate, and you lose all empathy for the 99% who are not like you! Thank you.
Mr Smith calls me a liberal ????! Mr Smith does not know the first thing about me. I am 100% non partisan like service members are supposed to be. He invests into the military industrial complex while I fought on the ground with what he pays into (much of it untested worthless crap). I don’t see the sacrifice made investing in weapons, equipment or whatever he invests in. One could hardly compare the two! Until one see war first hand it tends to be all fun and games especially for those independently wealthy enough to play the stocks!
