    YCSO Patrol Deputies discover Marijuana Growing/Drug Sales operation during Warrant Service

    Cottonwood AZ (February 10, 2016) – During the service of an arrest warrant for Failure to Pay Child Support in the 3700 block of E Vaquero Lane, Cottonwood, the following persons were arrested on various charges as detailed below: 36-year-old Nathaniel Janes, 37-year-old Jamie Meier, 43-year-old Janice Garcia, and 23-year-old Krystal Gonzales. Gonzales is from Sedona and the remaining suspects are from Cottonwood.

    Around 11AM on February 8, 2016, deputies went to the location to serve an arrest warrant issued to Janes and saw 29 marijuana plants in plain view outside the residence. Meier and Garcia were outside on the property and detained. When Janes exited the home, he was placed under arrest for the warrant and admitted actively cultivating the marijuana plants that had been found. Janes also showed the deputies larger marijuana plants being grown in a storage room attached to the home. Growing supplies were also found.

    Detectives from the Partners Against Narcotics Trafficking (PANT) task force were notified of the growing operation and arrived to assist with the investigation. Based on the contraband seized by YCSO patrol deputies, PANT detectives were able to obtain a search warrant for the property.

    It was discovered Meier was in possession of salable amounts of heroin and methamphetamine and he admitted to selling narcotics. Meier was arrested for Possession of Narcotic Drugs, Possession of Narcotic Drugs for Sale, Possession of Dangerous Drugs and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.  He remains in-custody on a $4500 bond.

    Janes was arrested for the outstanding warrant along with charges including Possession of Marijuana, Production of Marijuana, Possession of Dangerous Drugs, Possession of Dangerous Drugs for Sale, Possession of Narcotic Drugs, Possession of Narcotic Drugs for Sale, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Misconduct Involving Weapons. Firearms had been found in his bedroom along with marijuana, heroin and methamphetamine. Janes remains in-custody on a $5300 bond.

    As a result of the investigation, Garcia was arrested for Possession of Drug Paraphernalia found within the residence. She remains in-custody on a $1000 bond.

    Krystal Gonzalez, who eventually came out of the residence, was found in possession of Heroin and arrested for Possession of a Narcotic Drug and remains in-custody on $1000 bond.
