    Verde Valley News – What water bills have passed in the Legislature, what bills are pending, and how will they impact the Prescott region? Sen. Ken Bennett and Rep. Selina Bliss, both representing Legislative District 1, will discuss the status of current water and water-related bills in the Legislature in a Zoom presentation hosted by the Citizens Water Advocacy Group (CWAG) on Saturday, Apr. 8 from 10 a.m. to noon. The Zoom registration link is posted under “Next Event” at www.cwagaz.org .

    After a brief summary from Sen. Bennett and Rep. Bliss, CWAG will moderate a conversation with some prepared questions, and then take questions from the audience.
     
    Dr. Selena Bliss has been a member of CWAG since 2020 and was elected in 2022 to serve as one of three state representatives for Arizona’s Legislative District 1 (Prescott area). Dr. Bliss grew up in Prescott and graduated from Prescott High School. She has a doctorate in nursing education and has served as a nurse educator and expert witness/advocate regarding health care. Prior to that she worked as staff nurse at Yavapai Regional Medical Center for over 30 years.
     
    Ken Bennett, who was elected to his current seat in the State Senate in 2022, is a businessman with a long history of public service in Arizona. He grew up in Prescott where he helped run his family business, Bennett Oil Company, and was CEO for over 20 years. He served for four years on the Prescott City Council (1985-1989) and then went on to serve in the Arizona Senate from 1999 to 2007and was Senate President from 2003 to 2007. He was then appointed to complete Jan Brewer’s secretary of state term in 2009 and was elected to the position in 2010, serving until 2015. Sen. Bennett is an Arizona native and graduate of ASU and is active in many community organizations.
