Sedona AZ (February 20, 2013) – Construction of the Sedona Military Service Park at Jack Jamesen Memorial Park is officially underway. A ground breaking ceremony took place on February 7, 2013 recognizing those involved who have helped to make this park a reality.
The Sedona Marine Corps League and Sedona Korean American Association sought donations from local groups, including the Sedona 30, to help fund this project. Members of the community also showed their support of this park through monetary and in-kind donations.
The exciting news is that the park is now under construction and upon its completion, projected for June of 2013, will be a beautiful place to sit and reflect on those Sedona residents who have served our country in the military.
All five branches of the U.S. Armed Forces and Korean War Veterans are honored in the military park. Those veterans and families of veterans wishing to have their names or the names of their loved ones inscribed on the granite walls should contact the Parks and Recreation Department at (928) 282-7098 to receive the Inscription Application. This form, available on the City’s at www.SedonaAZ.gov/Parks, clearly explains what documentation needs to be provided with the application.
The purpose of this park is to honor all our brave Sedona men and women who have honorably served their country in times of peace and during war. Completion of this project will be a great addition to the Jack Jamesen Memorial Park and an asset to the community.
