Sedona News – Vajrayana Buddhist teacher, Venerable Khenpo Tenzin Norgay Rinpoche, will visit Sedona, Arizona New Years weekend for a teaching and smoke offering puja.

At the request of Kunzang Palyul Choling (KPC) Spiritual Director Jetsunma Ahkön Lhamo, on Saturday, Dec. 30, Khenpo will give a talk on the Purpose and Meaning of the Riwo Sangchöd Practice at Sedonya Conscious Living Center. Seating for the talk is limited, tickets are available on Eventbrite.

On Sunday, Dec. 31, he will then lead the Riwo Sang Chöd smoke offering puja at the Amitabha Stupa. All are welcome to attend either event separately or together.

About Venerable Khenpo Tenzin Norgay Rinpoche
Born in Bhutan, Khenpo Tenzin Norgay studied under many great masters at Ngagyur Nyingma Institute at Namdroling Monastery in Mysore, India, and completed the Shedra (University) program. Due to his knowledge, experience and fluent command of the English language, he has taught students in the United States for decades. He is the main resident master of the Nyingma Palyul Dharma Center (NPDC) in Queens, New York, and teaches at the annual Palyul Retreat in upstate NY and around the country and world.

About the Riwo Sang Chöd Practice
Khenpo Norgay will teach about the meaning and practice of the Riwo Sang Chod, which translates to “Mountain Smoke Offering” and then lead the practice on New Years Eve at the Amitabha Stupa. Riwo Sang Chod is one of the most powerful practices for cleansing the environment, increasing health and prosperity, and stimulating world peace and harmony.

Performed outdoors, offerings of sacred substances and other materials are burned to transform them into inexhaustible amrita (medicine). The smoke is visualized to emanate throughout space with qualities that heal and benefit all beings. By purifying outer and inner elements we create auspicious circumstances to accumulate merit and wisdom, now and for the year ahead.

About the Amitabha Stupa and Peace Park
The Amitabha Stupa in Sedona, AZ contains millions of prayers, holy texts and sacred objects which have been fully consecrated. Amitabha is the Buddha of Infinite Light who purifies the delusion and suffering of attachment. Before attaining enlightenment, Amitabha Buddha vowed that anyone who recited his name at the time of death would be reborn in his pureland, Dewachen, where it is possible to attain enlightenment and return to the world to help free beings from suffering.
