logo_UniversityWomenOfSedonaSedona AZ (April 23, 2018) – Susan Hughes will be the guest speaker at the May 7 meeting of University Women of Sedona. Ms Hughes led a very successful professional life as CFO of several companies before relocating to Sedona 12 years ago. Since her arrival she has become focused on social justice issues, particularly with regard to the LGBTQ community. As such she has worked with The Church of the Red Rocks and the Sedona Uniterian Universalist Fellowship with their processes of becoming welcoming congregations. In 2011 she established PFLAG Sedona/Verde Valley, a local chapter of a national organization whose purpose is to raise awareness and to unite people who are lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer with families, friends and allies.

The University Women of Sedona meet the first Monday of the month, October through May. Their meeting place is Christ Lutheran Church, 25 Chapel Road, Sedona. All women who hold AA degrees, RN degrees, Bachelors’ or higher are invited to attend. A time to socialize and share books begins at 9:30, followed by a special presentation and short business meeting.
