Sedona’s “Two Fer Tuesday” team is hosting a brand new “Two Fer Tuesday” on Tuesday, March 22 to help the Short Creek Dream Center in Colorado City, AZ.

The Center rescues sex trafficking victims, domestic violence/sexual violence victims and helps victims of the Fundamentalist Church of the Latter Day Saints’ leader, Warren Jeffs. Jeffs is serving a prison sentence as we speak.

The actual home of Jeffs has been re-configured into a rescue facility for victims of child marriage and sexual abuse. It has been transformed from a place of evil to a place of healing and restoration!

The Short Creek Dream Center exists to serve the twin towns of Hildale, Utah, and Colorado City, AZ, as they continue to grow, heal, and transform.

From transitional housing, recovery, community outreach and helping combat the effects of poverty the Dream Center exists to help find and fill the needs of the Short Creek Community and beyond.

The Center’s goal is to be supportive to anyone who is on a healing journey. They are passionate about being a place of refuge for anyone leaving or escaping environments that would be considered abusive or oppressive.

One of their dreams is to see Short Creek become a beacon of hope and healing internationally. While many people that were in bondage are living their lives victoriously and freely, there are still a multitude of fundamentalist groups in the USA and other countries where people are still in need of help.

The Short Creek Dream Center is also a part of the largest network of organizations that help victims of human trafficking. Trafficking comes in many different forms, and we want to see anyone suffering from exploitation be set free and have a place to go for support.

    Programs Designed for Healing

The Center’s  Recovery Center is equipped to help people achieve healing and restoration. They help people from all walks of life.

The Center helps people help people in the following scenarios:

     • Escaping domestic violence

    • Recovering from substance abuse

    • Overcoming homelessness

    • Healing from trauma

    • Developing crucial life skills and more

    For more information visit shortcreekdreamcenter.org

The community is asked to join Two Fer Tuesday to help these victims with the supply donations on March 22 at Cafe Jose (237 S.R. 89 A, #1, Sedona, 86336) or the Sedona United Methodist Church (110 Indian Hills Rd. Sedona, 86336) — from 9 AM to 4 PM at both locations.

Supplies needed are: healthy kids’ snacks (no nuts), new standard size pillows, new twin sheet sets, hygiene supplies like toothpaste and brushes, shampoo, cream rinse, razors and shaving cream, cleaning supplies, baby supplies like diapers (al sizes) and baby clothes (all sizes) and coats or blankets for kids.

Two Fer Tuesday thanks community supporters for “Being the Miracle.”

Tommy, thank you! Many of us involved in this “Two Fer” tomorrow, March 22, are with the Coalition Against Human Trafficking, northern Arizona, and many of us are Ambassadors of Hope for Shared Hope International , a global anti-sex trafficking organization.
The Short Creek Dream Center is giving hope and healing to children who were victims of sex trafficking, child marriage, sexual abuse and substance abuse.
We are so grateful for other Verde Valley residents who will join us to BE THE MIRACLE. Don’t wait for one…BE A MIRACLE for someone in need. It is our highest calling. Thank you all!

    The Politics of Pain

If there’s one thing nearly every living organism on this planet shares, it is the ability to feel pain. The pain of hunger. Of loneliness. Of illness. The pain of broken bones and broken bodies, broken hearts and broken homes. The pain of poverty, depression, the death of someone we love—and, eventually, the anticipation of our own death. Pain, in all its shapes and shadows, is the one certainty life gives us all. No one escapes it.
