    Clarkdale AZ (December 5, 2013) – The 27th Annual Made In Clarkdale Show is pleased to have Tom Schumacher as the person in charge of hanging this year’s art exhibit, bringing his rich art background and varied skill sets to this community event. Schumacher worked for 26 years as a Professor of Art at Yavapai Community College, Clarkdale, building the ceramics program there. He taught classes in many subject areas to include Jewelry, Design, Sculpture, Photography, Digital Photography and Ceramics. He also went onto to work in many leadership positions to include Campus Executive Dean, Division Assistant Dean and Dean of Instruction.

    20131205_Tom-SchumacherA founding member of Made In Clarkdale, Tom Schumacher will also be exhibiting his work in this year’s show. His Raku platters have earned the honors of “First Place” and “Best of Show” and his ceramic works have been exhibited nationwide.

    The Made in Clarkdale Show, held in the Clark Memorial Clubhouse Auditorium at 9th and Main Streets in Clarkdale, opens on Friday, December 6th, 6-9pm and runs through December 15th. Evening events will include performance art presentations of music, theater, wine tasting and a fashion show. Sunday, Dec. 8th will have an afternoon Art education presentation by members Arcosanti. The show runs daily from 9am to the close of evening events. Made In Clarkdale is free and open to the public. All special events are free with the exception of wine tasting and the theater production.

    City Council Weighs ATV Ban Ordinance Proposal

    The Sedona City Council at its May 23, 2023 meeting took no action on a proposed ordinance that would ban all off-road vehicles from being driven on state-owned public roads or streets owned by the city. The ordinance, spearheaded by Sedona Mayor Scott Jablow on the premise that such vehicles pose a risk to the health, safety and welfare of the community, would impose heavy fines to anyone driving the ATVs or OHVs on city streets, including S.R. 179 and S.R. 89A. ATV rental companies have admitted that such vehicles are not intended or designed to be driven on paved roads, yet, in Arizona, they are allowed to do so under Arizona Revised Statute 28-1174 (4B). Opponents against the ordinance argued at the meeting that if adopted the ban would cripple the ATV rental industry in Sedona and cause much hardship to the owners and employees, as it would effectively, as written, destroy their livelihood.
