    Healing Paws

    By Ted Grussing

… through images for the salon at the Mary D. Fisher Theater a week from Saturday I came across some snow scenes from 2010 which I like.  I think I shot this one up by the 4th tee box … just like the symmetry and the feel of a cold winter morning after a beautiful snow storm. As everyone who lives here knows our snow goes away in a matter of days and sometimes hours. I love it and we get the delight without the nastiness of knowing it will be down until spring.  So a beautiful look out into the sky and the sunlight being scattered in that beautiful clean air produces a crisp blue sky acting as a curtain for all the stars and galaxies out there … at nightfall the curtain is lifted and the universe is again exposed … and we wonder at it all.

A very busy day and got most of the opal matrix cut into slabs and trimmed so that I can begin work on the diamond wheels. Some very beautiful material … fun! Getting a cabin booked on the Upper Eau Clair Lake in northern Wisconsin for October have the trip to Terra Haute booked after I leave Minnesota and a friend who is going to do the photo shoot with me sitting on the bench with the sculpture of Max Ehrmann on the 15th  and it shall occur rain, snow or shine and I’ll use my cell phone as a hotspot to get an email out while sitting on the bench. Dinner with friends at the Hilton tonight and time to put a wrap on the day as I’m flying early in the morning. It is getting easier to get the sunrise shots for me as the days are getting shorter. Love this time of year.

Have a beautiful day and share a smile or three.

    Cheers

I’ll not bother to reform myself today.
Perhaps tomorrow — if it is raining,
and I must stay indoors, and meditate
    on the shortcomings of life.

City Council Weighs ATV Ban Ordinance Proposal
    By Tommy Acosta
The Sedona City Council at its May 23, 2023 meeting took no action on a proposed ordinance that would ban all off-road vehicles from being driven on state-owned public roads or streets owned by the city. The ordinance, spearheaded by Sedona Mayor Scott Jablow on the premise that such vehicles pose a risk to the health, safety and welfare of the community, would impose heavy fines to anyone driving the ATVs or OHVs on city streets, including S.R. 179 and S.R. 89A. ATV rental companies have admitted that such vehicles are not intended or designed to be driven on paved roads, yet, in Arizona, they are allowed to do so under Arizona Revised Statute 28-1174 (4B). Opponents against the ordinance argued at the meeting that if adopted the ban would cripple the ATV rental industry in Sedona and cause much hardship to the owners and employees, as it would effectively, as written, destroy their livelihood.
