… for the rest of the year I will be sending out some of my all-time favorite photographs and photographic art including composites. These are images that I have or have had on display in my home … the artists favorite picks!
The shot of the donkeys above has been in the top list since I took it in February 2021, and it has also been one of my best sellers. It is awaiting its turn in rotation in the dining room. I had a permanent frame made on a wall in the dining room that takes a 48″ x 24″ photo … easy to just pop one in or out.
There is a substantial population of these donkey’s/wild burros in the Lake Pleasant area … they have a life span reaching into the 40’s and are social and this shot touched me. They are there day in and day out whether we think about them or not … I like that they are there … invasive or not, they have been around here for almost 400 hundred years and have a right to be here … compared to the humans who have flooded the state over the last hundred or so years, they are very much more in tune with the natural ecosystem.
The photo below shows the mid-section of Sycamore Canyon during a monsoon storm. It is a mystical view of the second largest canyon in Arizona … it was breath taking with rays of sunshine punching through holes in the clouds, virga and cells of heavy rain … the air was a tad on the turbulent side … kind of an “A” ticket ride (an ancient Disney Land ticket.)
The primary mountain is the SW corner of Casner Mountain at the gap. I have many beautiful shots of Sycamore Canyon, but no other photograph comes close to the magic in this one. It has been continuously on display in my home since I took it in October 2011.
Down to the lake in the morning and hopefully some good shooting … if not, just being on the water and the hunt is enough … actually, more than enough 🙂
Have a beautiful day … share a smile with those you meet and greet … keep breathing, it is fantastic exercise!
Smiles,
Ted
Love some one—in God’s name love some one—
for this is the bread of the inner-life, without which
a part of you will starve and die; and though you feel
you must be stern, even hard, in your life of affairs,
make for yourself at least a little corner, somewhere
in the great world, where you may unbosom and be kind.
