    … fall is just around the corner and it is my favorite time of year … the heat and noise of summer is coming to a close and earth begins shutting down for the season as winter and the time of rest is around the corner.

    The shot above I took on a relatively quiet day at the peaks and in this view you are looking roughly to the north with Agassiz Peak in the foreground and the ridgeline running north to Humphreys Peak. Agassiz tops out at 12,360′ and Humphreys at 12,637′. Just to the right of Humphreys you can see Aubineau peak just above the ridgeline and on the right from right to left you have Doyle and Fremont (off frame) Peaks. The winds were very light on this day and just after I took this shot I dove over the edge below and to the right of Agassiz Peak into the inner basin … a day to play in the mountains.

    The photo below was taken at Bubbling Ponds Fishery in Page Springs, no wind and very shallow water with beautiful lighting. I should have called this one “Muddy Feet.” The water was only a few inches deep and the mud collected on the mallards feet and the reflection gives a better look at them.

    Into another beautiful day filled with promise and awaiting our decisions as to what kind of a day we will have … always our choice as to how we perceive and rank the day. Mine is going to be a beautiful day filled with joy! Hope you join me in it.

    Cheers,

    Ted

    Let me forgive much, forget more;
    Let me close my eyes and fall half asleep,
    That the pictures may grow softer and stiller,
    And the life, O thou God! again grow gentle.

    The Symbolism of Jan. 6

    By Tommy Acosta
    Don’t mess with symbols. Just ask author Dan Brown’s character Robert Landon. The worth of symbols cannot be measured. Symbols make the world-go-round. Symbols carry the weight of a thousand words and meanings. Symbols represent reality boiled down to the bone. Symbols evoke profound emotions and memories—at a very primal level of our being—often without our making rational or conscious connections. They fuel our imagination. Symbols enable us to access aspects of our existence that cannot be accessed in any other way. Symbols are used in all facets of human endeavor. One can only feel sorry for those who cannot comprehend the government’s response to the breech of the capital on January 6, with many, even pundits, claiming it was only a peaceful occupation. Regardless if one sees January 6 as a full-scale riot/insurrection or simply patriotic Americans demonstrating as is their right, the fact is the individuals involved went against a symbol, and this could not be allowed or go unpunished.
