    Healing Paws

    By Ted Grussing

    … the day seemed to get sidelined with one unexpected thing after another and the plans for the day continually required flexibility … and it was a wonderful cold rain all day which translates into a lot of fresh snow on the San Francisco Peaks and it is predicted to be clear in the morning, so no question about priorities tomorrow morning … up to the peaks … photos to be taken and fingers to be frozen.

    I took this shot of the Wells Fargo Center bank building in Minneapolis when I was back there in September. We had just finished dinner and were on the way to the parking structure and thence to a movie theater when I started taking these shots … the guy with the Pedicab saw me taking them, pedaled over and said he could get us a lot more and so for the next two and a half hours we were off to the historic river front areas and much fun was had and many good shots collected … much more fun than a movie. I enjoy shooting stuff like this and night skylines in almost any city are beautiful; less so during the day, but the night hides all the ugly stuff.

    It is early, but time for a wrap. Have a beautiful day tomorrow and share a smile with those whom you meet.

    Cheers

    Ted

    Sleep sweetly now that the gates of the crimson night are closed,
    and leave tomorrow’s struggle for tomorrow;
    The earth is peaceful, only the stars and still moon are abroad, and they wage no war.

    City Council Weighs ATV Ban Ordinance Proposal
    By Tommy Acosta
    The Sedona City Council at its May 23, 2023 meeting took no action on a proposed ordinance that would ban all off-road vehicles from being driven on state-owned public roads or streets owned by the city. The ordinance, spearheaded by Sedona Mayor Scott Jablow on the premise that such vehicles pose a risk to the health, safety and welfare of the community, would impose heavy fines to anyone driving the ATVs or OHVs on city streets, including S.R. 179 and S.R. 89A. ATV rental companies have admitted that such vehicles are not intended or designed to be driven on paved roads, yet, in Arizona, they are allowed to do so under Arizona Revised Statute 28-1174 (4B). Opponents against the ordinance argued at the meeting that if adopted the ban would cripple the ATV rental industry in Sedona and cause much hardship to the owners and employees, as it would effectively, as written, destroy their livelihood.
