… might have created a sculpture such as this had he done birds instead of the human form. Our Scrub Jay appears to be pondering the meaning of life and all that is … he is on a rock and does appear deep in thought … nice try Ted! The Thinker, by Auguste Rodin, is generally considered a work of art that celebrates knowledge and depicts a man in deep thought pondering all that is.

Anyhow, I took this shot yesterday afternoon at Eric’s home and what amazing bird sanctuary he has created. Many thanks for allowing me to shoot in your back yard! I finally settled on just bringing the Canon 90D on the trip and shooting the 70-200 and the 24-70 lenses. The 70-200 gives me the equivalent of a 320mm lens on the long end with the crop factor and shooting with an f/2.8 setting makes up for the lower ISO settings I will be using to avoid noise in the image. Shooting within the limitations of this body is a breeze and the results are very good. We shall see.

Have to leave very early in the morning to catch my flight so am wrapping a little early … for me.

Enjoy the new day and everything you experience in it … a beautiful rainstorm cleansed the air this afternoon. Enjoy it while it lasts.

    Cheers
    Ted

May I not forget that poverty and riches are of the spirit.
Though the world knows me not, may my thoughts and actions
be such as shall keep me friendly with myself.

    The Symbolism of Jan. 6

    By Tommy Acosta
Don’t mess with symbols. Just ask author Dan Brown’s character Robert Landon. The worth of symbols cannot be measured. Symbols make the world-go-round. Symbols carry the weight of a thousand words and meanings. Symbols represent reality boiled down to the bone. Symbols evoke profound emotions and memories—at a very primal level of our being—often without our making rational or conscious connections. They fuel our imagination. Symbols enable us to access aspects of our existence that cannot be accessed in any other way. Symbols are used in all facets of human endeavor. One can only feel sorry for those who cannot comprehend the government’s response to the breech of the capital on January 6, with many, even pundits, claiming it was only a peaceful occupation. Regardless if one sees January 6 as a full-scale riot/insurrection or simply patriotic Americans demonstrating as is their right, the fact is the individuals involved went against a symbol, and this could not be allowed or go unpunished.
