… I spent over two hours early Monday morning about 150′ off the ground suspended on the side of Red Tail Cliff hoping to get some good shots of the new Red Tail chicks and during the entire time I was up there, life played out with hundreds of birds flying in front of it and bringing food into the myriad of nests that are located in the cliff … it was awesome!
In the photo above, one of the adult Red Tail Hawks is leaving the nest after having delivered a meal to the three RT chicks … they appear to be very well fed and according to Michele, the one in the front is about three weeks old and the two in the back are about 2.5 weeks old … another few weeks and they will fledge and fly … a little help from the parents and then by midsummer they will be on their own.
The photo below is of a pair of House Finches that were perched on the vertical rock face of the cliff about 50′ from me … their nest was very close by, and they had a chick in the nest and I got a photo of it too.
A sheer 200′ high rock cliff … it is covered in life!!
Leaving for Lake Pleasant around 4AM which means rising at 3A … have a beautiful day and enjoy and live your life … keep breathing and smile … you are here!
With joy,
Ted
Let me not follow the clamor of
the world, but walk calmly
in my path. Give me a few friends
who will love me for what
I am; and keep ever burning
before my vagrant steps
the kindly light of hope.
