By Ted Grussing
I’ve spent a lot of today going through November’s shoots, trying to look at them the way an outside editor would view them and then dive in and delete, delete, delete. Mercifully there are a great many shots that are just too nice to scatter their bits and bytes and this shot of a hen Gadwall taking off from Watson Lake is one of those. The water droplets are still being shed from the wings, body and feet … the webbed feet are stowed and the wing feathers are spread and extended as she shapes the airfoil of her wings to transition into cruising flight. It was a beautiful day on the lake and I came home with this shot … and a few more.
Wednesday, already and time for me to put a wrap on the day. Thanks for all the emails and I’m trying to get caught up; currently 189 behind and trying. Another quiet day coming up and I’m enjoying them. Hoping that by the end of next week I’ll be flying again … the boating will wait a little longer.
I’m enjoying the relatively quiet days between holidays … a peaceful time before the New Year begins and life returns to normal … whatever that is. Take a few minutes to enjoy the beauty around you, and always smile.
Cheers
Ted
I thought that time went sweet and soft and slow,
And left no marks save those of gentleness
That bound you to my life with strong caress;
And you saw naught but all my soul’s deep truth,
No fading bloom, nor form the years bent low,
But ever still the beauty of my youth.
