… about a thousand years ago this part of earth was a volcanic wonder with hot lava and cinders spewing forth from what we now call Sunset Crater, located in the upper right corner of the image … it must have been quite the sight and for now, at least the San Francisco Volcanic Field is quiet … but this is earth and things change in earth time and it matters not the inconvenience to us … we are somewhat annoying guests along for the ride until earth shakes us off. Change, evolution and all the other things we want to stop except for those things which suit us. It is rather humorous when you think about it … the ever present 24/7 media describing the latest eruptions, tsunamis, earthquakes and speculating endlessly on how horrible things will happen to us unless … fill in your own favorite action we must take to avoid doomsday  … experts fill the airwaves spewing about what it all means and how soon we will all die … except … if… and still, earth continues her course and we are blessed, because we are here and alone in the quiet of the night and our souls we can sort out the meaning of our lives and keep breathing … for now.

This is life on planet Earth, welcome to excitement, wonder and amazing things … be in awe!

I took this photo this morning on a flight up to the volcanic field NE of Flagstaff … and hope you enjoy it … a few liberties, but this is what it looks like from 9,733.6’ MSL (mean sea level) and perhaps 2200’ AGL (above ground level).

Have an absolutely beautiful day … keep breathing and allow yourself a sense of wonder about all that is … and smile.

    Cheers

For a few hours here in the still morning I wash myself clean of civilization, and purge myself of things and the accumulated rubbish of time.
I push back history, dismiss interpreters, and stand erect before the dawn, looking the universe in the face, and asking my own questions.
Tomorrow I shall return to the human wheels; but now I defy the world of customs and laws, of sophistry and serfdom; and I yield myself childlike
to the light and the air and the sweet scented dew.

    A Bad Moon Rising

    By Tommy Acosta
What the hell is going on? Is the fabric of society in the U.S. tearing apart at the seams? Watching those videos of teens gone wild, smashing windows, stealing from shopping centers, laughing while running over bicyclists — an omen of things to come? What can be done? Catch them? Incarcerate them. Put them in jails until they learn enough about crime to come out as skilled criminals? These kids, these young men and women of color, are growing wild in the streets. From fatherless homes, unable to properly read or write, a dismal and destitute future ahead of them. What is going to happen when they reach adulthood? The cops can’t stop them. There are simply too many. They can flash mob a phalanx of cops and just run berserk around them. What are the police to do? Shoot them? Read more→
