Sedona AZ (April 7, 2016) – Get Ready!…Get Set!…Audition!… for a spot in this fantastic night of entertainment for the entire family! All school-age children, teachers, and parents and friends are welcome to strut their stuff and have a blast.

The proceeds will benefit the Music Department and Yearbook of West Sedona School. But, it doesn’t matter what school you attend! You can team up with friends from your school or other schools, do a solo act, or have a parent, teacher, or other grown-up help out. We’re looking for Variety with a Capital “V”! Short comedy skits, song & dance routines, karaoke singing, instrumental numbers, jugglers, magic acts, gymnastics–the possibilities are endless. Showtime is 6:30pm April 28th at West Sedona School. Owing to time restrictions please limit your act to a dynamic 4 minutes or less.

To audition, you may send a short video clip of your act to Jeanie Carroll, show organizer, at carroll@sedonak12.az.us. Please send it in by Monday, April 11th. Several acts auditioned in person, so we have only 12 slots available. If you would like to audition in person before April 11th, contact Carroll at 928-204-6651.

We want to offer our stage at West Sedona School to any talented community member, child or adult, who would like to support the arts and have an opportunity to share your talent with, hopefully, a full house! You will be notified of your slot in the show by Friday, April 15th. There will be one dress rehearsal, Wednesday, April 27th at 6:30pm. We will run the rehearsal out of order, allowing the youngest acts to go first.

    Sedona Gift Shop

Rehearsal and show will be in West Sedona School’s beautiful auditorium. A full-size electronic piano will be available as will a sound system to play mp3s. Once selected, you will send your mp3s in advance to Ms Carroll.

There are only three tiny requisites: You must attend the dress rehearsal. The only “stage fee” is paying the admission at the door of ONLY $5.00 per adult and $4.00 for kids. Thirdly, any song sung has to have the karaoke background without the lead vocalist or be accompanied by an instrument.

It’s an event for the whole family and for the whole community! All area school kids are invited to participate or to come to the show! We hope that you’ll represent West Sedona, Big Park, Red Rock High School, Sedona Charter School, Mingus, Cottonwood, Verde Valley School, Rimrock, and Cornville.

Tell your friends! Audition today! Mark your calendars to attend the best show in the history of the Universe! Well, we’ll come close!

The Sad Lesson of Tyre Nichols
    By Tommy Acosta
Having grown up in the mean streets of the Bronx there is one lesson we learn early on, and that’s don’t mess with the cops when they got you down, and outnumbered. The beating of Tyre Nichols at the hands of the police preceding his death at the hospital could have been avoided if only he had the sense to not resist them. People fail to understand that on the streets, cops are basically “God.” You can’t fight them. If it takes one, two, five, ten or twenty officers they will eventually put you down and hurt you if they have to in the process of detaining or arresting you. In the Bronx we would fight amongst ourselves but when the cops came it was “Yes, officer. No, officer,” and do our best to look as innocent as possible. People need to understand that cops on the street represent the full power of the state and government. Read more→
