Sedona AZ (July 27, 2016) – The summer event series, the Sedona Street Arts Festival returns this month to the Sedona Posse Grounds Hub and Posse Grounds Skate Park on Saturday, July 30, 2016 from 2-9 p.m. A FREE intergenerational event showcasing and celebrating the street arts, the Sedona Street Arts Festival drew over 80 in attendance last month in June, and will again feature local live music and performances, live arts, a skateboarding competition, local food vendors, and a ‘street dance party’ into the evening.
Inspired by a desire to celebrate all the art forms including those not often showcased in the local Sedona arts scene, the Sedona Street Arts Festival was developed with the youth in mind by June festival coordinator, Talya Reynolds. Connecting generations through the arts, the intention of the Street Arts Festival is to provide all ages with a platform to showcase their work while building excitement and support for all the unique forms of art and expression local to Sedona.
Live music and performances will be hosted by Ben Steezy of Gone Green Records and DJ Craig Eagle, featuring local musicians Sierra Shafer & Jason Thompson of Cat & Mouse, local singer-songwriter Sara Mireille, and Gone Green Records artists Tony Vega and Alo Moniz. Gone Green Records joins the festival the day after their Mixtape Pre-Release Party on Friday, July 29th at Relics Restaurant in West Sedona. While their Pre-Release Party is age-exclusive, the Street Arts Festival will be a great opportunity for all ages to hear their music.
Live visual arts will include local artists Eric Moorcroft, Donna Bonavito, glass-blowing by The Melting Point, and a special skateboard-themed series of mural panels commemorating the event that invites the community to add to the design. Live performance artists will include fire-spinner Heath Carley, poet Sarah Ann Lesslie, and hip-hop dancers The Sacred G’s. A big hit at the June festival, The Sacred G’s will also be offering two workshops in conjunction with the festival during the morning on Saturday, July 30th. The workshops will be open to ages 10+, register by phone at (928) 282-1660 or e-mail at info@sedonahub.org.
Oncore Skate & Snow will once again host their Best Trick Contests at the Posse Grounds Skate Park from 2-6 p.m. during the festival. The skateboard competition is open to everyone, so bring your board! Based out of Flagstaff, Oncore is also a partner in the Street Arts Festival. Stay after the competition for a fun spot-lit dance party, more musical performances, and an indoor public art wall from 6:30-9 p.m.
Food and drink will be offered from some of Sedona’s local favorites including Tamaliza, Chocolatree, Java Love Cafe Coffee Roasters, Wild Tonic Jun Kombucha, and Creekside Coffee.
Sponsored by Oncore Skate & Snow, Gone Green Records, Indian Gardens, and Steve Segner, the Sedona Street Arts Festival invites local businesses and individuals to also make a tax-deductible contribution to this free community event to further sustain the festival which will return on August 27th.
