    Sedona Heritage Museum to Host Veteran’s Day Tribute

    logo_sedonamuseum2Sedona AZ (November 4, 2016) – The Sedona Heritage Museum’s annual Veteran’s Day tribute will be on Friday, November 11th beginning at 11:00 a.m. at the Museum.  All veterans of all wars and active military, and family and friends are invited to be special guests of the Museum at Sedona’s annual memorial and program of appreciation for those who have serve and now serve. 

    20161104_museum1This year’s program will begin with entertainment by Tom and Shondra Jepperson.  They will be performing a new original song written by residents Terrie Frankel and Fred Shinn called “Here’s To You! Red, White and Blue”.  This song is being submitted for Grammy consideration for Best Americana Song.

    The program will continue with dignitaries including Mayor Sandy Moriarty, a Flag Ceremony by Sedona Boy Scout Troop 48, and special tributes.

    Vocalist Katherine Latorraca, herself a veteran, will sing a set of patriotic selections. 

    Sedona Gift Shop

    The program will be held in the Museum’s historic fruit packing shed.  Lunch will be served after the program with food by The Golden Goose. 

    Shuttle service will be provided from nearby parking lots.

    The day’s events are underwritten by the City of Sedona and the Sedona Heritage Museum.  The program, refreshments and Museum admission will be free.  For more information call 928-282-7038.  The Sedona Heritage Museum is located at 735 Jordan Rd. in Jordan Historical Park in Uptown Sedona.

    The Symbolism of Jan. 6

    Don’t mess with symbols. Just ask author Dan Brown’s character Robert Landon. The worth of symbols cannot be measured. Symbols make the world-go-round. Symbols carry the weight of a thousand words and meanings. Symbols represent reality boiled down to the bone. Symbols evoke profound emotions and memories—at a very primal level of our being—often without our making rational or conscious connections. They fuel our imagination. Symbols enable us to access aspects of our existence that cannot be accessed in any other way. Symbols are used in all facets of human endeavor. One can only feel sorry for those who cannot comprehend the government’s response to the breech of the capital on January 6, with many, even pundits, claiming it was only a peaceful occupation. Regardless if one sees January 6 as a full-scale riot/insurrection or simply patriotic Americans demonstrating as is their right, the fact is the individuals involved went against a symbol, and this could not be allowed or go unpunished.
