    Sedona News – The Sedona International Film Festival is proud to present “Simone: Woman of the Century” showing Aug. 18-23 at the Alice Gill-Sheldon Theatre.

    “Simone: Woman of the Century” premiered at the recent Sedona International Film Festival as one of the closing night films and received rave reviews. The film is returning to Sedona by popular demand.

    Celebrate the monumental life and legacy of Simone Veil, one of the most beloved French women of all time whose extraordinary life is brought to the silver screen in this moving and monumental biopic from director Olivier Dahan (“La Vie en Rose”).

    As a Holocaust survivor who became President of the European Parliament, the dramatic life of French magistrate and politician Simone Veil perfectly mirrored Europe’s 20th century history — from near destruction to prosperity and peace.

    “Simone: Woman of the Century” will be shown at the Alice Gill-Sheldon Theatre Aug. 18-23. Showtimes will be Friday, Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 18, 19 and 20 at 6:30 p.m.; and Monday and Wednesday, Aug. 21 and 23 at 3:30 p.m.

    What the hell is going on? Is the fabric of society in the U.S. tearing apart at the seams? Watching those videos of teens gone wild, smashing windows, stealing from shopping centers, laughing while running over bicyclists — an omen of things to come? What can be done? Catch them? Incarcerate them. Put them in jails until they learn enough about crime to come out as skilled criminals? These kids, these young men and women of color, are growing wild in the streets. From fatherless homes, unable to properly read or write, a dismal and destitute future ahead of them. What is going to happen when they reach adulthood? The cops can’t stop them. There are simply too many. They can flash mob a phalanx of cops and just run berserk around them. What are the police to do? Shoot them? Read more→
