    logo_sacSedona AZ (June 13, 2014) – Sedona Arts Center is offering four new opportunities for member artists.

    Submission to Sedona Arts Center’s Fine Art Gallery – Applications accepted July 1 – 31, 2014.  Artists are invited to submit a portfolio representing their work that will be reviewed by a jury for the purpose of being represented in the Sedona Arts Centers’ Fine Art Gallery.

    Members Summer Co-op – July 3 – August 3, 2014 – Applications due by June 16, 2014. Open to any member, provides an opportunity to show a body of work. Staffing and selling in the gallery is shared equally between artists participating in the exhibit. Fee $60

    Members Juried Hummingbird Exhibition – August 1 – 10, 2014 – Applications due by June 30, 2014.  Open to any member of the Sedona Arts Center or the Hummingbird Society. The artist must submit artwork. This exhibition is in collaboration with the Sedona Hummingbird Festival and Goldenstein Gallery.

    Sedona Gift Shop

    8th  Annual Open Members’ Exhibition – September 5 – 21, 2014 – Applications due August 25, 2014.  Open to any SAC member. All artwork must be original and completed in the last two years. Artists are encouraged to submit their best piece, only one piece per artist. Participating artists are required to assist in staffing the exhibit, which is shown in the Special Exhibition Gallery at the Sedona Arts Center.

If you are planning to submit, we encourage you to take advantage of two brief workshops in our Business of Art series, The Jury Process June 17 from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. and The Artists Portfolio June 24 from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Both are FREE to members, $10 for non-members and held at Sedona Arts Center.

    What Would I Change?

    What would I change if I could? You and I both know I can’t, but it’s a fun exercise anyway. I would have been less of a know-it-all on my spiritual journey. It seems to be a side-effect of the path. Spiritual folks develop an all-knowing buffer to protect against their inevitable surrender to the unknown, but understanding that now didn’t make it gentler on me or those I loved, let alone those that I deemed not capable of getting it 😉 Yeah … I’d have dropped the spiritual snob act. I’d have recognized that spiritual radicals are only different on the outside from radical right Christians, and that the surface doesn’t really matter as much as I thought. We are all doing our couldn’t be otherwise things, playing our perfect roles. I’d have learned to bow down humbly before my fellow man, regardless of whether I agreed with him or not. We’re all in this together and not one of us will get out alive. Read more→
