Flagstaff News – Cancer Support Community Arizona is thrilled to announce the return of its annual Paws 4 Hope charity event on May 3 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Bushmaster Park in Flagstaff. The fun-filled, free community festival, presented by Purina and Warner’s Nursery, will bring together pet lovers, their furry companions and the community for a day of fitness, fun and fundraising, all supporting Cancer Support Community Northern Arizona.

Cancer Support Community Arizona uplifts and strengthens people impacted by cancer by providing support, fostering compassionate communities, and breaking down barriers to care. The organization provides emotional and social support for anyone impacted by cancer by offering more than 100 programs per month that include support groups, cancer resource navigation, social activities, mind/body therapies, nutritional counseling and educational seminars. All programs are offered free of charge and designed to support cancer patients, their families and caregivers throughout their cancer journey.

Attendees can expect a day of pet-friendly fun while supporting a great cause. Highlights of the event include:

    • Tails & Trails Fund Run, sponsored by Midtown Animal Clinic: Kick off the day with a scenic run or walk for all fitness levels, perfect for you and your pup.
    • Bark & Discover Pavilion: Explore locally made pet products, treats, and accessories at the Vendor Village—plus goodies for pet parents, too!
    • Photo Booth, sponsored by Canyon Pet Hospital: Snap a keepsake photo with your furry friend to remember the day.
    • Best Tricks Contest: Show off your pet’s skills for a chance to win prizes.
    • Pawsitive Training Zone: Get expert dog behavior advice and training tips with on-site mini sessions from professional trainers.
    • Dog Wash & Hydration Station: Pamper your pet with a refreshing bath after the fun and stay hydrated at the water stations for both pets and humans.
    • Food Trucks: Satisfy your cravings with local food trucks serving tasty meals and snacks throughout the day.

“We’re proud to once again host this heartwarming event that brings our community together in support of those impacted by cancer,” said Cindy Payne, executive director of CSCAZ Northern Arizona. “Paws 4 Hope is a wonderful way to unite our love for animals with our mission of providing hope and resources to those who need it most, and we are grateful to all our sponsors who support this festival, including Purina, Warner’s Nursery, Northern Arizona Healthcare, Canyon Pet Hospital, Midtown Animal Clinic, Arizona Oncology, Findlay Toyota Flagstaff, and Theatrikos Theatre Company.”

From Protest Signs to Missiles: Why Peace Needs Teeth
    .By Tommy Acosta

Through the years, I saw myself as a herald—someone who could help people, through my writings, liberate themselves from programmed ignorance and institutionalized stupidity. Well, now that I am in the third act of my life, my understanding of how the world works has changed.
