Sedona News – The Arizona Department of Transportation is advising drivers and area residents and businesses to plan for an overnight closure of State Route 89A in Oak Creek Canyon from 9 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 10, to 5 a.m. Friday, Aug. 11.

    DETOURS

    • From Sedona: Northbound SR 89A will be closed to all traffic at the Cave Springs Campground (milepost 386).
      • DETOUR:  Drivers who normally would use northbound SR 89A can use southbound State Route 179 to northbound Interstate 17 to reach Flagstaff.
    • From Flagstaff: Southbound SR 89A will be closed to all traffic at the Oak Creek Vista Overlook (milepost 390).
      • DETOUR:  Drivers who normally would use southbound SR 89A can use southbound I-17 to northbound SR 179 to reach Sedona.

The overnight closure is needed so crews can safely continue working on the SR 89A Oak Creek Canyon Improvements project, which includes rockfall mitigation, erosion control and bridge rehabilitation.
