logo_KSBSedona AZ (February 20, 2013) – Keep Sedona Beautiful (KSB), a nonprofit organization of volunteers who are dedicated to being environmental stewards dedicated to preserving the scenic beauty of the greater Sedona area, fielded a team at the Sedona Marathon to raise funds for the KSB Endowment Fund. Six team members participated in three of the events, the 5k, 10k, and the half marathon, and received just over $11,000 in sponsorship donations to the Fund. Two KSB team members did not only KSB but also Sedona proud: they achieved first place in their respective distance/gender/age divisions, the 5k and half-marathon.

20130220_KSB-Team-2013-Before-the-Race-21KSB also contributed to the Marathon by ‘running’ Aid Station #2 together with El Rincon Restaurante Mexicano: Nineteen KSB volunteers, in two shifts, helped set up and take down the station and served up refreshments and encouragements to the runners and walkers for 8 hours, with music, cow bells, enthusiastic cheering, dressed in colorful Mexican or Southwestern attire. Of course, Aid Station #2 staff is of the firm opinion that #2 was the best of them all!

City Council Weighs ATV Ban Ordinance Proposal
    By Tommy Acosta
The Sedona City Council at its May 23, 2023 meeting took no action on a proposed ordinance that would ban all off-road vehicles from being driven on state-owned public roads or streets owned by the city. The ordinance, spearheaded by Sedona Mayor Scott Jablow on the premise that such vehicles pose a risk to the health, safety and welfare of the community, would impose heavy fines to anyone driving the ATVs or OHVs on city streets, including S.R. 179 and S.R. 89A. ATV rental companies have admitted that such vehicles are not intended or designed to be driven on paved roads, yet, in Arizona, they are allowed to do so under Arizona Revised Statute 28-1174 (4B). Opponents against the ordinance argued at the meeting that if adopted the ban would cripple the ATV rental industry in Sedona and cause much hardship to the owners and employees, as it would effectively, as written, destroy their livelihood.
