Sedona AZ (February 20, 2013) – Keep Sedona Beautiful (KSB), a nonprofit organization of volunteers who are dedicated to being environmental stewards dedicated to preserving the scenic beauty of the greater Sedona area, fielded a team at the Sedona Marathon to raise funds for the KSB Endowment Fund. Six team members participated in three of the events, the 5k, 10k, and the half marathon, and received just over $11,000 in sponsorship donations to the Fund. Two KSB team members did not only KSB but also Sedona proud: they achieved first place in their respective distance/gender/age divisions, the 5k and half-marathon.
KSB also contributed to the Marathon by ‘running’ Aid Station #2 together with El Rincon Restaurante Mexicano: Nineteen KSB volunteers, in two shifts, helped set up and take down the station and served up refreshments and encouragements to the runners and walkers for 8 hours, with music, cow bells, enthusiastic cheering, dressed in colorful Mexican or Southwestern attire. Of course, Aid Station #2 staff is of the firm opinion that #2 was the best of them all!
