Sedona AZ (September 23, 2019) – The weather is cooling down, and that means it’s time for Fall Fest at Slide Rock State Park! Join us on October 5, 2019 for a day of family fun at one of the state’s most popular parks.
Discover all that Slide Rock State Park has to offer at this annual festival. Learn about blacksmithing with William Weathersby, taste some of Payne Gulch’s different honeys and learn all about bees, check out a Sedona Fire District engine and talk to a firefighter, or see the AZ Flywheeler display and talk about engines.
For nature lovers, you can learn how to attract Monarch butterflies to your garden, observe and learn about endangered narrow-headed garter snakes, and explore the US Fish and Wildlife booth. Staff from Tuzigoot National Monument will be on site, and kids can visit with Arizona State Parks’ own Rocky Ringtail or wish Smokey Bear a happy 75thbirthday!
Families can enjoy live music from Tommy Rocks and the Jerome Ukulele Orchestra from 1 to 3 p.m. Watch the apple sorting machinery run in the historical Apple Packing Shed. Kids of all ages can make a scarecrow, create a lavender wand in the Homestead Demonstration Garden, or earn their Junior Ranger badge.
Slide Rock State Park began as a working apple orchard. Today, its agricultural legacy continues. The orchard is still a working commercial apple ranch that features an original vintage 30-foot-long apple sorting machine reconstructed by volunteers, still in the historic Pendley apple shed.
