logo_campverdecommunitylibraryCamp Verde AZ (June 7, 2019) – On Saturday, June 15, 2019, the Coalition Against Human Trafficking-Northern Arizona and artist, Ann Metlay will be hosting a reception and film at Camp Verde Community Library beginning at 2:00 p.m. as a part of their on-going exhibit, “To Restore Their Dreams.”

News headlines bristle with stories of human trafficking. Across the country it is one of the fastest growing illegal human enterprises because it embodies relatively low risks with high profit potential. Ms. Metlay’s installation of seven grieving figures calls attention to the personal side of this tragedy.

20190607_cvclThe film, Chosen, will be screened as part of a presentation by the President of the Coalition Against Human Trafficking-Northern Arizona on ways each of us can have an impact on ending human trafficking. At 3:30 light refreshments will be served and Ann Metlay will discuss the inspiration behind her exhibit, and the ongoing evolution of her ceramic art. All are enthusiastically invited to Camp Verde Community Library for this event.

Symbols evoke profound emotions and memories—at a very primal level of our being—often without our making rational or conscious connections. They fuel our imagination. Symbols enable us to access aspects of our existence that cannot be accessed in any other way. Symbols are used in all facets of human endeavor. One can only feel sorry for those who cannot comprehend the government’s response to the breech of the capital on January 6, with many, even pundits, claiming it was only a peaceful occupation. Regardless if one sees January 6 as a full-scale riot/insurrection or simply patriotic Americans demonstrating as is their right, the fact is the individuals involved went against a symbol, and this could not be allowed or go unpunished.
