Sedona, AZ — There is a new [October 1, 2025] spotlight on Rolling Stone, He Grew Obsessed With an AI Chatbot. Then He Vanished in the Ozarks, stating that, “A deputy came by to talk to Rachel, who shared all the disturbing things Jon had said and done that day, begging him to ping his phone so he could be located. “The deputy asked me if he was eating and bathing of his own accord,” she says. “And I said, ‘Yes, but what does that have to do with anything?’ And they said, ‘Because he’s eating and bathing of his own accord, we won’t consider him endangered.’” (The Butler County Sheriff’s Office did not return a request for comment.)”
What is order and disorder in the human mind? If someone can eat and shower without help, does that indicate mental order? If someone cannot, does that indicate mental disorder?
What is the problem of mind that continues to be unresolved in neuroscience that has now become the biggest research priority — on earth — as the mind is again under a new vulnerability : artificial intelligence?
There are several unresolved vulnerabilities for the human mind, they include disorders, addictions, and so forth, but the emerging risk in AI has become an urgent cause for concern, seeing how it continues to drive some to extreme ends.
Questions
What exactly is the mind in the cranium? This question means that what is the thing within the cranium that is responsible for what is labeled as memory, emotion, feeling, language, intelligence, sensations or reality interpretations, and so forth? What are the components of mind? What are the relays of mind?
Simply, what are the direct components responsible for those functions since there are several other supportive components?
Mental Health
There is a new [October 1] report, The State of Mental Health in America 2025, stating that, “Alabama, Arizona, and Nevada scored the worst, with higher prevalence of mental illness and lower access to mental health care. This is the second year in a row that Nevada and Arizona were the two lowest ranked states. 23.4% of adults in the U.S. experienced any mental illness (AMI) in the past year, equivalent to over 60 million people. 17.7% of adults in the U.S. had a substance use disorder (SUD) in the past year, totaling over 46 million people. 5.5% of adults reported experiencing serious thoughts of suicide, totaling over 14 million people. 11.3% of youth (ages 12-17) in the U.S. experienced a major depressive episode (MDE) with severe impairment in the past year, meaning it severely impacted their functioning at work, school, or home. That’s a total of 2.8 million youth whose depression significantly impaired their functioning. In the U.S., there were 320 individuals for every one mental health provider in 2024. New York, Hawaii, and New Jersey scored the best across 17 measures of prevalence of mental illness and access to mental health care.”
Search
In neuroscience, for all the studies all functions are associated with neurons or nerve cells. However, neurons do not function alone, they involve their electrical and chemical signals.
So, in the search for what the human mind is, neurons and their signals are the candidates. Now, with neurons as cells, why would neurons be able to represent a smell or sight? How would they do so given their anatomy, with no dynamic parts for representations that can cater to all the variances of mind, even when they are in clusters?
This, conceptually, rules out neurons, leaving the option for mind as the electrical and chemical signals.
This means that signals are not simply for communication or transmission, but as configurators of functions.
The Human Mind
The human mind, distinct from the body, can be conceptually described as the collection of all the electrical and chemical configurators — with their interactions and attributes, in sets, in clusters of neurons — across the central and peripheral nervous systems. Simply, the human mind is the set[s] of [neuro]configurators. Interactions means the strike of electrical configurators on chemical configurators, in sets. This means that anything that can have an effect on electrical configurators or chemical configurators can influence the mind. So, functions are from interactions. While attributes qualify the functions or determine the limits or extents for those functions.
It is assumed here that electrical and chemical signals of neurons are instead configurators, who do work in sets in clusters of neurons.
Consequences are a configuration, and when there is a problem, it could be a result of an incomplete architecture or faulty attributes.
Human Mind Research Lab
It is possible to have a human mind research lab, to explore electrical and chemical configurators, in order to explain all the functions of mind.
It is possible to use this as well, to describe all the conditions in The Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, Fifth Edition, Text Revision (DSM-5-TR) .
AI Psychosis Therapy
As AI or chatbot psychosis becomes a major issue, the human mind research lab can prospect displays that will describe parallels to what is happening within, shaping mind safety disclaimers and much else. Having this lab, a first on earth, will accelerate progress, moving progress beyond the unknowns of mind.
