Sedona AZ (January 1, 2015) – As we move into the New Year, here are some great resolutions that are really worth doing:

    1. Adopt a loving cat or dog and make your new best friend for 2015.
    2. Volunteer at the Humane Society of Sedona.
    3. Shop often at Paws West, and Paw Prints Thrift Stores to support homeless and lost animals.

20150101_HSS_anakin1“Happy New Year! My name is Anakin (think Star Wars…). This is the second week they are showing me here because I am that good and somebody out there is my new lucky owner and needs to come get me! I am a handsome, 4 yo Boxer who is sweet, affectionate and loves to go on long walks. Do you have a lonely dog at home? Bring me home to meet them as I love to play and get along very well with other dogs. You can see more pictures of me here.”

Come by and take a tour of the shelter and see all the wonderful cats and dogs that are eager and ready to go home with you and be your next best friend. Stop by the shelter anytime seven days a week from 10 to 4 pm, or go by PetSmart daily to adopt a cat today.

Symbols carry the weight of a thousand words and meanings. Symbols represent reality boiled down to the bone. Symbols evoke profound emotions and memories—at a very primal level of our being—often without our making rational or conscious connections. They fuel our imagination. Symbols enable us to access aspects of our existence that cannot be accessed in any other way. Symbols are used in all facets of human endeavor. One can only feel sorry for those who cannot comprehend the government’s response to the breech of the capital on January 6, with many, even pundits, claiming it was only a peaceful occupation. Regardless if one sees January 6 as a full-scale riot/insurrection or simply patriotic Americans demonstrating as is their right, the fact is the individuals involved went against a symbol, and this could not be allowed or go unpunished.
