Arizona State ParksFlagstaff AZ (December 28, 2012 ) – Meet at the Visitor Center of Riordan Mansion State Historic Park on January 12, and enjoy a presentation on the Homesteads of Oak Creek Canyon. The presentation is from 7-8 pm. From the 1880’s into the early 1900’s settlers discovered the consistent water source of Oak Creek, but it was a difficult and inaccessible location to set up a homestead. Many tried their hand at farming the area, but only a few stayed. Park Ranger, Nikki, will share her research into these homesteads and what has become of them today. This event is free to the public, but does not include tour admission to Riordan Mansion. Learn more on the Riordan Mansion State Historic Park website.
