Sedona, AZ — If you like Flamenco dancing and authentic Spanish food you are in for a special treat as Steakhouse89 in West Sedona puts on its first Flamenco Show on Saturday, September 28, starting at 5:30 p.m.

The show features the beautiful and talented Sofia Rumbos & the Francesca Nava Flamenco Dancers, with Flamenco guitarist Gaetano and company providing the live music.

Sofia began studying Flamenco dancing at the age of 12 dancing in Flamenco academies in Venezuela. As an adult she continued studying and dancing professionally. She was originally inspired by her Flamenco teachers.

She also was inspired by and admired great flamenco dancers, “bailaoras,” such as Maria Juncal, Sara Baras and Eva Yerbabuena.

In Venezuela, Sofia had a Flamenco academy where she danced in several cities in the country and then internationally; in Colombia, in Orlando Florida USA and in Sedona Az.

Flamenco is a song, music and dance style which is strongly influenced by the Gitanos, but which has its deeper roots in Moorish musical traditions. Flamenco culture originated in Andalusia (Spain), but has since become one of the icons of Spanish music and even Spanish culture in general.

It is a very emotional style of dance. Flamenco dancers try to express their deepest emotions by using body movements and facial expressions.

Flamenco Guitarist Gaetano regularly performs in Sedona and is known as one of the best in his musical genre.
