Sedona AZ (August 16, 2016) – The Sedona International Film Festival is proud to present the Northern Arizona premieres of the critically-acclaimed new films “Captain Fantastic” (starring Viggo Mortensen) and “Absolutely Fabulous: The Movie” showing Aug. 26-31 at the Mary D. Fisher Theatre.

    CAPTAIN FANTASTIC

An unconventional family leaves its wilderness home and tries to adapt to the world outside the forests of the Pacific Northwest in “Captain Fantastic”, a humorous, challenging and ultimately moving drama from writer and director Matt Ross.

Deep in the forests, isolated from society, a devoted father Ben Cash (Viggo Mortensen) dedicates his life to transforming his six young children into extraordinary adults. He and his wife Leslie (Trin Miller) have created an off-the-grid paradise for their family. In a self-sufficient, handcrafted compound, Ben teaches his children the skills they need to survive in the deep forest, as well as providing them with a rigorous physical and intellectual education. But when a tragedy strikes the family, they are forced to leave this self-created paradise and begin a journey into the outside world that challenges his idea of what it means to be a parent and brings into question everything he’s taught them.

“Captain Fantastic” also stars Frank Langella, George MacKay, Samantha Isler, Ann Dowd and Erin Moriarty.

A major hit at the Sundance and Cannes Film Festivals, “Captain Fantastic” is getting rave reviews from critics and audiences around the world.

“Triumphant and spirited!” — The Huffington Post

“Viggo Mortensen is magnificent!” — Rolling Stone Magazine

“Wise and deeply moving!” — The Washington Post

“Sweet and funny!” — Entertainment Weekly

“Captain Fantastic” will be shown at the Mary D. Fisher Theatre Aug. 26-31. Showtimes will be 4 p.m. on Friday, Saturday and Monday, Aug. 26, 27 and 29; and 7 p.m. on Sunday, Tuesday and Wednesday, Aug. 28, 30 & 31.

    ABSOLUTELY FABULOUS: THE MOVIE

The outrageously funny British television sensation is hitting the big screen in “Absolutely Fabulous: The Movie”.

Appropriate for their big screen debut, Edina Monsoon and Patsy Stone (Jennifer Saunders and Joanna Lumley) are still oozing glitz and glamour, living the high life they are accustomed to; shopping, drinking and clubbing their way around London’s trendiest hotspots.  But when they accidentally push Kate Moss into the river Thames at an uber fashionable launch party, Eddy and Patsy become entangled in a media storm surrounding the supermodel’s untimely demise and are relentlessly pursued by the paparazzi.

Fleeing penniless to the glamorous playground of the super-rich, the French Riviera, they hatch a plan to make their escape permanent and live the high life forever more!

So ensues a hilarious Cote d’Azur caper, with all our favorite old faces rubbing straw hats with a lineup of pitch perfect new characters.  Will Eddy’s dissolute past begin to catch up with her?  Is the party finally over?

“Bigger, brasher and boozier than ever! A Bollinger-soaked, age-defying, diamond-encrusted triumph!” raves The Mirror.

“Absolutely Fabulous: The Movie” will be shown at the Mary D. Fisher Theatre Aug. 26-31. Showtimes will be 7 p.m. on Friday, Saturday and Monday, Aug. 26, 27 and 29; and 4 p.m. on Tuesday and Wednesday, Aug. 30 & 31.

Tickets are $12, or $9 for Film Festival members. For tickets and more information, please call 928-282-1177. Both the theatre and film festival office are located at 2030 W. Hwy. 89A, in West Sedona. For more information, visit: www.SedonaFilmFestival.org.

    Hey Papi
    Happy Father’s Day Papi!

How’s it going up there in heaven? It’s Father’s Day here on Earth, and I’m thinking of you—missing you—now that I’m one year older than you were when you passed away. I just want to thank you for everything you taught me. Thank you for taking such good care of me. Thank you for helping me walk when I couldn’t walk. Thank you for making me strong against all adversity. Thank you for teaching me how to look behind the scenes and see what’s not being shown.
