Sedona AZ (April 6, 2019) – Do you remember walking barefoot along the beach or barefoot on the grass? Do you remember feeling some tingling in your feet or legs, or a sense of warmth or well-being rising up into your body? “That sensation is the result of direct barefoot contact with the surface of the Earth, which brims with natural, subtle energy”, according to Heart MD Institute. According to the Institute’s Dr. Stephen Sinatra, “Emerging science reveals that direct contact with the ground allows you to receive an energy infusion, compliments of Mother Earth. Think of it as “vitamin G” – G for ground. Just as the sun above creates vitamin D in your body, the ground below provides you with vitamin G, a kind of electrical nutrition.”

20190406_ShaidaSinaIn honor of Earth Day and April designated as Sustainability Month, The Mental Health Coalition’s Mental Health Monday will feature Dr. Shaida Sina doing a presentation on “Mother Earth: The Connection to Brain Wellness and Aging Gracefully”. The presentation will include a lecture and an outdoor “grounding” experience. The program will take place on Monday, April 29, 10AM-Noon, at Yavapai College Sedona at 4215 Arts Village Drive. The program is free and open to the public and is a partnership with OLLI at Yavapai College.

Dr. Shaida Sina has been working in medicine for over 30 years. She received her BS from the University of Maryland’s School of Medicine’s Department of Medical and Research Technology. She trained at John’s Hopkins Hospital Laboratory and worked as a laboratory scientist in Chemistry, Hematology, Shock Trauma, Neonatal Intensive Care, and Infectious Disease at the University of Maryland Hospital for 12 years. Dr. Sina began her doctorate studies in medicine in 1995 at Southwest College of Naturopathic Medicine, in Tempe, AZ. She was the first naturopathic medical student trained at Mayo Clinic in the area of Infertility. Dr. Sina completed post doctorate training in the field of Environmental Medicine with an emphasis in chemical and metal detoxification. At Breakthrough Medicine, located in the Cottonwood, she practices Functional/ Preventative / Integrative Medicine. Her clinical focus is on Family Practice with special interest in GI Health, Cardiology, Women’s and Men’s Longevity Medicine, Endocrinology, Brain Wellness, and Environmental Detox.

Her presentation will address generational toxicity, developmental milestone vulnerability to environmental toxicants, the link between Autism and Alzheimer’s, environmental toxicants and anxiety and depression, the process of aging and factors that influence health vs illness, microbiome of the Earth and how it affects the human microbiome, inflammation from dysbiosis, atrophy of the brain from deficiencies, environmental toxicants changing brain functionality, changes in structure and circulation affecting brain architecture and function, strategies for repair or reversal of cognitive and mental health illness, integrative medicine approach to treating Autism, Alzheimer’s and Mental Illness, and bonding with Mother Earth through Grounding. After the formal presentation the attendees will go outside to experience grounding with the earth.
