Camp Verde AZ (March 21, 2020) – While putting the health and safety of our staff, volunteers, and community first, Camp Verde Community Library is taking the following actions:

Starting Monday, March 23, through at least Saturday, April 4, the Library will reduce open hours to Monday through Friday 10:00a – 5:00p. Staff will be available from 9:00a – 6:00p to take calls and respond to emails. Checkout times have been extended to 8 weeks and HOLDS will not be canceled if they are not picked up. Library materials may be returned in the outside Book Return 24/7. Staff will empty the Return and check items in daily. Meetings, library programs, and room use are canceled until further notice. We will continue to update our community via our Facebook page www.facebook.com/campverdelibrary/ and to provide virtual support with online resources at www.cvlibrary.org. These changes also affect the Adult Learning Center located on the first floor of the Library. For information about GED, citizenship and English classes call 928-554-8398 or go to www.cvarp.org.

In addition to following The President’s Coronavirus Guidelines for America we are: deep-cleaning and disinfecting the library daily; wiping down frequently-touched surfaces with a disinfectant solution more frequently; providing hand-sanitizer, gloves, and tissues for public and staff use; temporarily removing hard-to-clean toys and Legos from the Children’s Library, and spraying Lysol in public gathering areas at closing each day.

There are also many library resources you can access from home at www.cvlibrary.org, such as Overdrive, which provides you with eBooks and eAudiobooks; RBDigital has popular magazines and downloadable audiobooks; Kanopy which offers a movie streaming service, Great Courses, and KanopyKids movies; Freegal Music a music streaming and a download service; Tumblebooks offers eBooks, videos and games for kids, as well a variety of even more educational and informational online resources.

These measures could change at any time due to county, state or national guidelines or orders, so please call us at (928) 554-8380 or check our Facebook page for the most current information.

Please stay safe and healthy in these difficult times.

    If I Were Curtis Sliwa
    By Tommy Acosta

One of my guilty little pleasures is imagining what I would do if I was in someone else’s shoes, especially politicians. In this essay I would love to jump into the shoes of Curtis Sliwa, a former New York City vigilante who founded the Guardian Angels and is now running as a Republican for mayor of his city.
