Clarkdale AZ (March 1, 2016) – The Clarkdale Planning Commission is sponsoring a series of meet and greet opportunities to discuss the SR 89A Focus Area Master Plan.

In 2013 the Clarkdale Town Council adopted the Sustainable Community and Economic Development Plan. Shortly after, the Clarkdale Planning Commission began work on a main goal of this document to create area-specific plans and infrastructure development plans for several undeveloped areas in the Town. Each of these areas is identified as having the potential to contribute to the economic prosperity of Clarkdale. These areas are adjacent to residential property that could benefit and would be impacted by increased commercial development.

The SR 89A Corridor was identified as the first focus area to be addressed. The Commission has hosted a series of property owner/stakeholder and community meetings to discuss development along the highway and hopes to present a master plan to the Town Council for consideration by June 2016. This plan will serve as a guiding document for development in the area.

The meet and greet events schedule is Friday, March 4th, from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. at Chateau Tumbleweed and 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. at Nate’s Cowboy Café and Saturday, March 5th, from 10:00 a.m. – noon at Olsen’s. Residents, property owners and visitors are encouraged to stop by and learn more about the focus area planning process and provide input about what they would like to see along this important commercial corridor between Clarkdale and the City of Cottonwood.

For more information or for directions to any of the host businesses, contact the Community Development Department at 928-639-2500.
