Sedona News – The city of Sedona seeks applicants for one seat on the Tourism Advisory Board (TAB) due to a resignation.

This voluntary body, established by city council, consists of 11-people appointed to advise the city council and staff on decisions related to tourism strategic planning, marketing, visitor management, regional tourism efforts and any other tourism related matters assigned to it by the city council.

The TAB represents a broad range of perspectives and opinions. Applicants should be at least one of the following: a Sedona resident, own or operate a business within the city limits or represent an organization serving the community.

The term of service for this seat will be effective immediately for the remainder of the current term which expires on December 31, 2025. The board currently meets monthly on the first Wednesday of each month, but meetings are expected to move to an every-other-month schedule in 2025.

“The TAB has been essential at helping shape the direction of the city’s new Tourism Program this past year. The diversity of opinions that represent the broader Sedona community, thoughtful discussions and consensus around major decisions helps city staff have a much appreciated sounding board as we tackle big topics around tourism,” said Tourism Manager Andrew Grossmann.

Applications may be picked up at the City Clerk’s office, at 102 Roadrunner Dr. or by accessing this fillable PDF. Return completed applications to the City Clerk’s Office or via email at cityclerksdept@sedonaaz.gov no later than 5 p.m. on Tuesday, October 15, 2024.

    More information
Read about the Tourism Program’s two-year work plan in the newly created Sedona Tourism Plan. Learn more about the TAB responsibilities by contacting Grossmann at (928) 203-5145 or agrossmann@sedonaaz.gov.

    If I Were Curtis Sliwa
    By Tommy Acosta

One of my guilty little pleasures is imagining what I would do if I was in someone else’s shoes, especially politicians. In this essay I would love to jump into the shoes of Curtis Sliwa, a former New York City vigilante who founded the Guardian Angels and is now running as a Republican for mayor of his city.
