    Celebrate the Holidays with Fort Verde State Historic Park!

    Arizona State ParksCamp Verde AZ (November 29, 2018) – Join us for a holiday celebration at Fort Verde State Historic Park! The park will be participating in Camp Verde’s Victorian Christmas celebration, and you can enjoy the fun!

    The town of Camp Verde will be hosting exciting activities throughout the holiday season. Bring the kids to a Victorian Ornament Making Workshop on December 1, where they can make their very own holiday ornament. There’s a fun Christmas Craft Bazaar and a Parade of Lights on Saturday, December 8, and the whole family can meet Santa and Mrs. Claus after the parade!

    20181129_ftverdeFort Verde State Historic Park will be decked out in period holiday decorations, making it a true Victorian Christmas. The park will also host Candlelight Tours Friday and Saturday, December 7-8 and again on the 14-15. These tours offer a fascinating new perspective on the historic homes, with tours of the fort after hours in the glow of candlelight. It’s a special holiday experience that last through January 4, 2019, so you can ring in the new year in Victorian style!

    The Symbolism of Jan. 6

    Don’t mess with symbols. Just ask author Dan Brown’s character Robert Landon. The worth of symbols cannot be measured. Symbols make the world-go-round. Symbols carry the weight of a thousand words and meanings. Symbols represent reality boiled down to the bone. Symbols evoke profound emotions and memories—at a very primal level of our being—often without our making rational or conscious connections. They fuel our imagination. Symbols enable us to access aspects of our existence that cannot be accessed in any other way. Symbols are used in all facets of human endeavor. One can only feel sorry for those who cannot comprehend the government’s response to the breech of the capital on January 6, with many, even pundits, claiming it was only a peaceful occupation. Regardless if one sees January 6 as a full-scale riot/insurrection or simply patriotic Americans demonstrating as is their right, the fact is the individuals involved went against a symbol, and this could not be allowed or go unpunished.
