Sedona News – During Earth Week this year, the Sustainability Department accepted Les Springs to become the first neighborhood to join its new Sustainable Neighborhoods Program. In November, the city of Sedona joined a nationally recognized program called the Sustainable Neighborhoods Network, making it the first city in Arizona to join. Arizona News – If you’ve recently traveled along Interstate 17 north of the Phoenix metro area, you’ve undoubtedly noticed that the landscape looks a lot different. Entire sections of the mountainsides have been removed through controlled rock blasting, and this major earthwork operation is now complete ahead of the start of the summer travel season. Arizona News – Ignitions have started on the Wolf Fire, a lightning-sparked wildfire located about 3 miles northwest of Clints Well on the Coconino National Forest’s Mogollon Rim Ranger District. A closure order has been issued for the area surrounding the wildfire. Fire managers had already planned to treat the area of the Wolf Fire with the Clints prescribed fire project scheduled for later this month.
