Verde Valley News – MATFORCE, a primary prevention organization focused on stopping youth drug use before it starts, has partnered again this year with local law enforcement agencies to host medication takeback events throughout Yavapai County. Since 2008 over 43,500 pounds of medication have been collected and properly disposed of through Dump the Drugs events and drop box locations throughout Yavapai County. On January 13 and 14, 2024, the Sedona Police Department (SPD) Cadets travelled to the Chandler Tactical Competition to compete with 51 other teams in events including Narcotics lab raid, high risk vehicle stops, crisis negotiations, terrorist takeover, bike rodeo, pistol shoot, and sniper challenge. Sedona News – The Sedona Westerners Hiking Club raised a record-breaking $37,000 in 2024 for the Sedona Red Rock Trail Fund (SRRTF). Fueled by a $10,000 incentive match from an anonymous donor, more than 60 members made donations totaling $35,110 during the February campaign. Adding the Westerners’ yearly Trail Keeper, the club brought in a grand total of $37,110 for Red Rock trail maintenance and enhancement.
