logo_neilrizosCamp Verde AZ (December 6, 2013) – Award winning artist Neil Rizos has been selected to present a printmaking demonstration at White Hills Gallery, at 325 S. Main St. in downtown Camp Verde, on the night of their holiday party, Saturday December 14th starting at 5pm. During the presentation, Rizos will offer a brief history of etching and demonstrate the process using his printing press.

Rizos has been a professional artist for the past 25 years, working in a wide variety of media including painting, sculpting, and printmaking. His primary subject is birds in their natural habitat and he has traveled extensively from the Artic to the tropics to find inspiration for his etchings and paintings.

20131206_Neil-Rizos-Goldeneyes1Rizos has been awarded numerous Artist Residencies throughout North America and Europe including Acadia National Park, Maine and Cill Rialaig, Ireland. He is a member of The National Arts Club, The Salmagundi Club and Allied Artists of America. In 2008, he was awarded the Gold Medal of Honor by the Allied Artists of America for his etching, ‘DeWinton’s Pool’. Rizos’ etchings are featured in the book, The American Sporting Print: 20th Century Etchers & Drypointists, which includes work by Frank W. Benson, Carl Rungius, Ogden Pleissner and others.

Rizos is among the artists selected for the Verde Valley Land Preservation’s traveling art exhibit, “A River Runs Thru Us.” The selected artists created works of art inspired by the Verde River that make up the traveling exhibit. The exhibit will travel through the watershed area and is currently on display at the Clarkdale Library in Clarkdale until January 3rd. Rizos’ piece, along with all the art on display, is available for auction at auctions.verdeartistchallenge.org.
