Sedona News – The city invites residents to apply for the 2025 Sedona Police Department Community Police Academy, a free program designed to experience firsthand engagement with the Sedona Police Department, have a better understanding of the department’s role within the community and foster a collaborative relationship with residents.
The eight-week program will be held every Tuesday evening from 6 to 9 p.m., starting May 6, 2025. It is for Sedona residents and business community members to help create open communication with Sedona Police Department staff. Not only is it an opportunity for the community to learn more about the operations of the Police Department, but it is also a way for police staff to hear directly from participants regarding their values and community goals.
The course curriculum includes:
- Patrol procedures
- Crime scene investigations (fingerprinting and DNA collection)
- Traffic control and regulation (DUI, motorcycle detail and collision)
- Firearms
- Use of force
- Reporting and investigating
- Specialty assignments: K-9, Narcotics Detective, School Resource Officer, motor officers, Community Service Officers and Community Service Aids
- Volunteers
- Cadet Program
- Police communication (dispatch)
Applications must be received by April 25, 2025. Seats are limited to 15 individuals. Most classes will be held at The Hub, at 525-B Posse Grounds Rd. The first class will be held at City Hall’s Vultee Conference Room located at 102 Roadrunner Dr.
