The Sedona WomenSedona News – International Women’s Day is March 8, 2022. Each year this day is set aside to celebrate women’s hard-earned achievements, raise awareness against bias, and take action against inequality for women around the world. The following day, March 9th, The Sedona Women (“TSW”) will wear white in solidarity during an in-person event highlighting both the achievements and challenges facing women here at home. Guest speaker Jennifer Camano, representing the Arizona Foundation for Women, will address the significant issues still facing Arizona women and discuss ways to meet these challenges. This timely event will be open to the public on Wednesday, March 9th at 10 a.m. at the Creative Life Center in Sedona.

The Arizona Foundation for Women (“AFW”), founded in 1995, was created to advance the status of Arizona women through research, advocacy and philanthropy. Jennifer Camano, a nonprofit management and philanthropy consultant, will discuss AFW’s work and their tireless effort to ensure the safety, health, and economic empowerment of Arizona women. Additionally, Camano will explain how the current pandemic has taken a unique toll on women and, more specifically, on the women of Arizona.

    If I Were Curtis Sliwa
    By Tommy Acosta

One of my guilty little pleasures is imagining what I would do if I was in someone else’s shoes, especially politicians. In this essay I would love to jump into the shoes of Curtis Sliwa, a former New York City vigilante who founded the Guardian Angels and is now running as a Republican for mayor of his city.
