    City of Sedona hires new city attorney

    City of Sedona ArizonaSedona AZ (July 25, 2020) – Mayor Sandy Moriarty and the members of City Council are pleased to announce Kurt Christianson has accepted the position of city attorney. 

    Christianson has worked for the city of Glendale for most of his professional career, first as an assistant city prosecutor and currently as an assistant city attorney. In his role as assistant city attorney he represented a variety of departments, gaining critical experience and expertise in the many areas of municipal law.

    In his new role with the city of Sedona, Christianson looks forward to working closely with City Council and city departments, and wearing the many hats needed for Sedona’s success. “I am honored to be selected by the Mayor and City Council as the next city attorney and I am excited for the opportunity to serve the citizens and city of Sedona,” said Christianson. “I will do my best to continue to provide the excellent legal services the city needs.”

    A native Arizonan, Christianson enjoys spending time with his family exploring the Grand Canyon state. He earned his Bachelor of Arts in political science from Brigham Young University and his Juris Doctorate from the University of Arizona. 

    After five years with the city of Sedona, current City Attorney Robert Pickels will be retiring upon Christianson’s arrival in September.

    “Kurt will make a great addition to the city of Sedona team. He brings a diverse background in municipal law to the position and will be able to hit the ground running,” said Pickels.
