    … he was first to fly and last to be published … also the largest of the three to fly. Quinn is a ferruginous hawk and about the size of a small eagle … he sports long sharp talons and check out the sharp upper beak which is designed to help him rip chunks of meat off of his prey. Ferruginous is a reference to the rust color of the bird …

    Correction … Leroy is a Harris’s hawk, not a Harris hawk. John J. Audubon named the hawk after his friend Edward Harris who accompanied Audubon on a number of his field trips. Being a possessive, we add the ” ‘s ” to the name. While the birds don’t care, it is important to us to properly define them.

    Spent the day on the presentation again and tomorrow and more to come. I think you will enjoy it if you choose to come. March 13th, 4PM at the Mary Fisher Theater … they did not get the promo information up on the website today, but hopefully they will tomorrow …

    Have a beautiful day and enjoy the company of those you choose to spend it with …

    If the noise of the city offend you, go afield, when you may,
    with the birds and the wild, free life that troubles not;

    The growing grain and the placid sky have a kind of voice;
    and though you are alone, the boundlessness of the
    universe is with you.
