Friday was a day for blasting around on incredibly horrible roads in the RZR and I got some really great video clips of the ride … it made the run up Schnebly Hill Road (15 minutes flat) seem like a trip down the interstate freeway, but was it ever fun! One of our stops was at Robbers Roost, and we hiked the trail from the parking area to the upper right side of the top of Robbers Roost to just short of where the people are in this photo. The parking area for vehicles is in the upper left corner of this photo and the trail you can see going down the hill and back up on the right side of the rock. Because this is a shot looking down it really flattens the terrain out, it is a fairly steep hike down and back up, but only a mile roundtrip.
When we got to the point where the one person can be seen coming out of the green bushes at the top and on the right side of the rock, I decided that was far enough for me. There is a substantial precipice and a drop of hundreds of feet from that narrow path and with a hip of dubious integrity I decided not to push it … there is a reason I am having the hip replaced next week and I figured better just a hip than perhaps a whole body replacement … so the trip to the cave which is only another hundred feet or so will have to wait until later. Further out from that person you can see a couple resting on the trail – narrow – I took this shot this morning on my third flight in the past four days and I think I was only about a hundred feet above the rock. This photo only shows the top half of the rock and there is a lot more straight down from the bottom of this photo. You don’t need a RZR to get to this place, and it is worth the trip out there. Truly an amazing place we live in.
This was a fabulous Thanksgiving weekend and now we’re into a new week and Monday is well underway … time to wrap the day and a major infusion of espresso in a few hours to fuel the day. Have a beautiful day and keep breathing, life is good as are most people.
