    logo_sedonamuseum2Sedona AZ (November 30, 2016) – The Sedona Heritage Museum is hosting their annual “Christmas in the Park” FREE open house on Saturday, December 10 from 11:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m.  The event extends free admission to the museum and a day filled with special free activities as a holiday gift to residents and visitors.

    Everyone will be treated to hot apple cider, holiday cookies and free entertainment and activities.  A fire will burn in the red rock fireplace of the old Jordan house, the museum will be decorated in vintage holiday décor and a tumbleweed ‘snowman’ will greet all guests.

    Sedona old-timers and descendants of local pioneer families, including Jordan family descendents and Pat Schnebly Ceballos (Sedona’s granddaughter) will be in the Museum exhibit rooms telling stories about early Sedona.

    20161130_tumbleweed-and-womanGuests are invited to the activity room where volunteers will help them make a cornhusk doll ornament.

    Local authors will be signing copies of their books just in time for holiday gifts, including:  Michael Peach signing his new “Leave Your Big Behavior in Your Home Corral” book of cowboy poetry and humorous stories; Robert Demayo will be signing his novel “The Road to Sedona” about a homeless family that crisscrosses America to learn that home is something you take with you;

    Rita Reger will be signing her children’s book series featuring Pepe Quackamole; and F. Ruth Jordan and Sally Jackson both have books about the Jordan family that built the Sedona Heritage Museum buildings.

    Enjoy holiday music at 1:30 p.m. in the historic Fruit Packing Shed when singers will share the history of a selection of favorite holiday carols and then lead a sing-along.  The Packing Shed is heated for concert-goers.

    Stay after the open house for a special performance at 3:00 p.m. by Michael Peach.  An annual tradition at the Museum, Peach will read Charles Dickens’ “A Christmas Carol”.  Admission for this special show will be donations of new, non-perishable food items or $6/person for the Sedona Food Bank.

    Museum admission, concert and activities are free, with the exception of the Mike Peach show.

    Holiday shopping in the Museum’s Gift Shop will be a “must do”, as you take advantage of the shop’s annual sale.  The Gift Shop carries many items made by local artists and crafters, along with many gifts for both kids and adults.

    The Sedona Heritage Museum is on the National Register of Historic Places, and located at 735 Jordan Rd. in Jordan Historical Park in Uptown Sedona.  For more information, call the museum at 928-282-7038, sedonamuseum.org.
