City of Sedona ArizonaSedona AZ (June 25, 2016) – Banicki Construction will complete preventative road maintenance on Highway 89A between Forest Road and just north of Art Barn Lane during the week of June 26, 2016. Work will primarily occur during nighttime hours from 8 p.m. to 7 a.m. when traffic is minimal. The project will seal coat approximately 2,100 feet of existing roadway along with parking areas and loading zones adjacent to Highway 89A. Additionally, all parking bumpers along Highway 89A will be replaced with new decorative recycled rubber car stops.

“This preventative maintenance follows our Uptown Paving Project that was completed last summer, and displays another way we work to provide well maintained and aesthetic streets and parking for our residents and visitors,” said Stephen Craver, engineering supervisor, city of Sedona.

Regarding the project schedule, Banicki Construction will:

    • Seal coat the northbound lane and adjacent parking and loading zones on the evening of Sunday, June 26, 2016, in which northbound traffic will be shifted to the center lane, and a flagging operation will occur from Arroyo Roble Drive to past Art Barn Lane. On-street parking on the east side of Highway 89A will be restricted. The following roads and driveways on the east side of Highway 89A will be temporarily restricted for approximately four hours each:
      • Driveway adjacent to 89Agave: 10 p.m. – 2 a.m.
      • Bus driveway adjacent to Canyon Breeze: 10:30 p.m. – 2:30 a.m.
      • Amara Lane: midnight – 4 a.m.
      • Arroyo Roble Drive: 12:30 a.m. – 4:30 a.m.
      • Art Barn Road: 2 a.m. – 6 a.m.
    • Seal coat the center lane, and the southbound lane between Arroyo Roble Drive to the north end of the project past Art Barn Lane, on the evening of Monday, June 27, 2016. Left turns onto Apple Avenue and Jordan Road will be restricted for approximately four hours.
    • Seal coat the southbound lane from Forest Road to Arroyo Roble Drive, adjacent parking and loading zones, and the Jordan Road intersection on the evening of Tuesday, June 28, 2016. Southbound traffic will be shifted to the center lane. On-street parking on the west side of Highway 89A will be restricted. Access to Apple Avenue and Jordan Road will be restricted for approximately four hours.
    • Survey for new striping during the day of Wednesday, June 29, 2016.
    • Place temporary striping during the evenings of Wednesday, June 29, 2016 and Thursday, June 30, 2016.
    • Place permanent striping and repaint the crosswalks on the evenings of Monday, August 1, 2016 and Tuesday, August 2, 2016 once the new seal coat has fully cured.

Patrons and merchants are encouraged to plan ahead, as access to and from driveways and parking areas on Highway 89A will be restricted for a period of time once the seal coat is applied to allow for dry time. Portable lights will be used to aid with visibility and safety. Motorists can expect minor delays, and are encouraged to reduce speeds through work areas, maintain a safe distance from work vehicles and be cautious of fresh oil.
