Spent some time at the airport today getting things ready to go again; cleaning Mariah up and started putting the new tarps on the top of the shade. It was pretty windy, so going back up in the morning and finish up. Then the wax job and on the 23rd and 24th Rick will be up here finishing up and then it will be back to the sky. Thoughts of being in the air makes me spend time looking at photos like this eagle I shot a couple of weeks ago … I like tweety birds, but the raptors are far and away my favorites … along with Vultures and Condors they are the ultimate soaring machines and you can see them making the most minute adjustments with their primary feathers to maximize their ability to work lift.
Heather, “not just any John’s” daughter is sculpting a Bald Eagle now and not just any eagle; this will be a bronze eagle with a 50 foot wingspan … yes, 50 feet!!! I’m attaching a photo of Heather sculpting the head for this one. She also has a 6’4” version which I am thinking seriously about. This will have to rank as one of the largest Bronze sculptures ever. It will be cast in about 265 pieces and then welded together and then put the patina on it. I think the finished sculpture is about another year out. You too can have one in your yard … it will be awesome and obviously the first one is sold. Way to go Heather!!!
You can see more of her work at www.heathersoderberg.com . Both Heather and her sister Misty are very talented … www.mistysoderberg.com … we have Misty’s “Seeker” a Peregrine Falcon … you did good John and to complete the family promotion check John’s website out at: www.johnsoderberg.com . John’s wife Myra is a very talented artist too and stop in the gallery and take a look at her beautiful work.
Way late and need to wrap the day … only five hours out for the first several shots of espresso. Have an incredible week and we know what family Soderberg will be doing :+)
Smile and share your joy! Keep breathing too
Ted
I’ll not bother to reform myself today.
Perhaps tomorrow — if it is raining,
and I must stay indoors, and meditate
on the shortcomings of life.
