Sedona AZ (September 28, 2015) – On Thursday, October 8th, at 6:30 PM, The Inspiration of Sedona, will show part 8 of James Cameron’s, Emmy award-winning, nine-part “Years of Living Dangerously” documentary series, and then discuss the issues that the series raises. The final remaining part 9 of the documentary series will be shown on Thursday, October 22nd, at 6:30 PM, followed by an open group discussion.
From the damage wrought by Hurricane Sandy to the upheaval caused by drought in the Middle East, YEARS OF LIVING DANGEROUSLY combines blockbuster storytelling with the reporting expertise of Hollywood’s brightest stars and today’s most respected journalists. Part 8 of the series is called “Dangerous Future.” In this eighth episode, Matt Damon investigates the impact of extreme heat on human health and mortality, with a focus on research that has uncovered how rising temperatures are creating a worldwide public health emergency. Michael C. Hall visits Bangladesh to explore the prediction that by 2050, a global migration of upwards of 150 million people will produce the single most daunting burden to our future. And Thomas L. Friedman travels to Yemen to conclude his look into how climate stress can push volatile political situations over the edge.
“Viewers have been keen to do what they can to help fight climate change,” said group member, local performance artist Pash Galbavy. “We are in the process of organizing activities that community members can get involved with locally to raise awareness about climate change related issues. These will be in conjunction with the planned global actions that will take place surrounding the upcoming December Paris Climate Summit between November 28th and December 12th. We welcome individuals and groups who want to be involved to get in touch. We’re planning ideas around climate change related art, speakers, poetry, music, and other possibilities, including individuals and businesses involved in sustainability.”
The Inspiration of Sedona meets on the 2nd and 4th Thursdays of each month. It is an open meeting group, that strives to work together collectively for the betterment of ourselves, our communities, and the world.
